No Regrets: Jamie Hagiya Knows What She Wants Out Of 2006
Aug. 28, 2006
Welcome back Trojans!!!
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer because with the beginning of a new school year, there's no time to rest as the BEST times are about to begin. Campus is pretty crazy with everybody trying to get back into the swing of things...classes, workouts, catching up with friends and teammates. What's even crazier is that this will be the last time coming back for many of us. So with that said, the motto for us seven returning seniors seems to follow the pattern of 'No Regrets.' We're doing it all this year. Every practice and every game becomes the last one for us, and with seven returning seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and four new freshmen, we're getting it done this year. Also because this is the last year for us, we'll be everywhere...every sporting event, social mixers and pep rally that SC has to offer. You name it, and we'll be there.
So, speaking of 'No Regrets,' my summer has involved endless hours in the gym preparing for my senior season. When the final buzzer sounds of my last collegiate game, I want to know that I did everything I could to contribute to our team. This year I feel particularly knowledgeable and ready for the game, because along with my summer workouts I was extremely fortunate to attend Dick DeVenzio/Dena Evan's Point Guard College. Hailey Dunham (our AWESOME incoming freshman who everyone will enjoy watching) and I attended classroom and gym sessions three times a day for five days. And I must tell you that this camp was the best camp I have ever attended. There aren't enough wonderful things to say about Dena Evans. She's dynamic, knowledgeable and just one of those special people who can bring out the best in all of us.
Each classroom session was followed by gym time to work on the things discussed in class. It was surprising how much I learned in those five days as she emphasized some of the smallest but essential details of the game. She not only told you what to do, most importantly she told you how to do it. I'm forever grateful to her and the entire coaching staff, as I have learned numerous things that I will take with me forever, both on and off the court.
Alright, well I'm looking forward to a great year for the Women of Troy, I hope you all are too, and I can't wait to see you at some games...FIGHT ON!!!
With love and Trojan pride,
