Enjoy Gameday With The Huskies

Sept. 1, 2006

SEATTLE - Fans of University of Washington football can enjoy a day full of fun and entertaining gameday activities this season and it all starts tomorrow when the Huskies host San Jose State in a 12:30 p.m. kickoff at Husky Stadium.

The day begins bright and early in the morning with 950 KJR's coverage of Husky football starting at 8 a.m. and lasting throughout the day until long after the final gun has sounded. Dave 'Softy' Mahler, Hugh Millen and Dick Baird will begin a special 90-minute pre-game show live from the tailgate area South of Husky Stadium.

For special live pre-game entertainment, the Husky Huddles at Dempsey Indoor are the place to be. Starting three hours prior to each home game, this event features interactive games, beverages, big screen televisions with games from around the country, the Husky Marching Band and food available for purchase. New for this year is a special appearance at 11 a.m. at each home game by head coach Tyrone Willingham!

The fun doesn't end when the game is over. Season ticket holders are invited to the 5th Quarter in Dempsey Indoor immediately following the game. Enjoy a chalk talk with a Husky Legend (this week it is Chico Fraley), an appearance by a UW football assistant coach, listen to the 950 KRJ post-game show, watch games from around the country on the big screen TV's and enjoy the Husky Marching Band. Beverages and bar snacks will also be available.

A few of the other items that make UW Husky gameday special:

  • This week, the first 10,000 fans through the games will be provided free Husky football schedule magnets, courtesy of FSN and the popular UW football schedule poster will be distributed after the game.

  • ISP Sports and the athletic department are producing a new, upgraded souvenir game program for purchase at the stadium. Available for $5, this glossy new 136-page program features news, information, feature stories, photographs and more. The cover for Saturday's opener features UW's great tradition of quarterbacks, including recent NFL Hall of Fame inductee Warren Moon and current signal caller Isaiah Stanback.

  • One of the unique traditions of Husky football is tailgating by boat just east of the stadium on Union Bay in Lake Washington. Boat moorage is available on a season or single game basis. For information or to purchase permits, please call the Tyee Office at 206-543-2234.

  • Through a special promotion with K2 and NorthFace, fans can win a pair of K2 skis or a snowboard during the game. Register at the special K2 Sports Zone near the climbing rock (South of the stadium, near the KJR 950 pregame show).
