Patrick O'Neil Named to the Pan American Roster

BERKELEY - Cal men's swimmer Patrick O'Neil was selected to the 2007 Pan American Roster USA Swimming announced on Friday. The 2007 Pan American Games will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 17-22, 2007.

The senior swimmer will join the likes of Olympian Gary Hall, who trains regularly at Spieker Aquatics Complex, Mark Gangloff and Maritz Correia on the 46-member team.

O'Neil is coming off his ninth place finish in the 100 fly (54.27) and 18th-place (2:01.35) in the 200 fly at the USA Swimming National Championships in early August.

During his junior season at Cal, O'Neil earned All-American status in 200 fly and 100 fly. He finished seventh in the 200 fly at the Pac-10 Championships. O'Neil also earned All-American honors his sophomore year with a 10th-place finish in the 200 fly.
