Volleyball Downed by #19 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 2006 Sports Import Classic hosted by Ohio State wrapped up Saturday evening as the Sun Devil Volleyball Team (6-2) fell to the host school, #19 Ohio State (8-0) in straight games going 30-24, 30-24 and 30-19 against the Buckeyes. Two Sun Devils were named to the All-Tournament team with Colette Meek taking the Best Blocker Award with six blocks and Sydney Donahue receiving the Best Defender Award with 36 digs and her third consecutive All-Tournament Team selection this season.

Leading the Sun Devil offense was Margie Giordano with 14 kills and Nicole Morton with nine. Danielle Fernandes added to the Sun Devil tab with seven kills and Colette Meek and Nina Reeves both wrapped up with four kills apiece.

On defense, Sydney Donahue had 17 digs for her 19th consecutive game with double digit digs. Following her was Nicole Morton with 16 digs and two blocks.

Sun Devil Volleyball returns home next weekend as the Tempe Courtyard by Marriott Classic kicks off at Wells Fargo Arena this Friday with the Sun Devils slated to face-off against Duke at 7 p.m.
