Cal Men's Golf Places Third at Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - In its opening tournament of the 2006-07 season, the Cal men's golf team placed third Sunday at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, played at Eisenhower Golf Club (7,301-yard, par 72) at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Golden Bears shot a three-round score of nine under 855 (293, 280, 285), trailing only Xavier (845, -19) and Colorado State (854, -10).

Top finishers for the Bears were junior Michael Jensen, who placed eighth with a four under 212 (72, 72, 68), and freshmen Andrey Mindirgasov (74, 69, 71) and Chris Jensen (74, 69, 71, brother of Michael), who placed 10th with a two-under 214.

Cal's other finishers included junior Kurt Yamane who placed 35th with a three over 219 (73, 72, 74) and senior Michael Wilson who placed 37th with a four over 220 (78, 72, 70).

The Bears will next compete at the Husky Invitational, Sept. 25-26 in Auburn, Wash.
