    The Opening Kick-Off
Stanford (1-3-2) travels to Berkeley this weekend to participate in its second consecutive tournament, the adidas Cal Legacy Classic. The Cardinal open tournament play on Friday, Sept. 15, squaring off against Sacramento State (2-4-0) at noon. Two days later, Stanford faces Dartmouth (1-1-2) at noon. The Cardinal has posted a 4-2 record in its last six contests at the adidas Cal Legacy Classic, including a 2-0 mark in 2004. Last weekend at its own Stanford Nike Invitational, the Cardinal dropped a 2-1 decision to San Jose State before battling back for a 1-1 draw with Cal State Fullerton.

    Scouting Sacramento State
Sacramento State enters this weekend with a 2-4-0 overall record. The Hornets have won two of their last three matches after suffering three straight losses to start the season. The offense has improved as well during the recent stretch, as Sacramento State has outscored its opponents 7-4 over the last three games. That includes a 3-0 shutout of Bowling Green on Sept. 10. Stanford owns a 14-4-2 all-time record against Sacramento State, including a 5-0 win back on Aug. 31, 2002.

    Scouting Dartmouth
Through four games, Dartmouth sports a 1-1-2 ledger. The Big Green have been held scoreless since Sept. 1, when they defeated Binghampton 2-0 in their only win of the year in the season opener. Dartmouth, which has a pair of 0-0 ties to its credit, was blanked 1-0 by George Mason at the Yale Classic in its most recent game. The two teams have seven times, with Stanford holding a 5-1-1 record. The last meeting on Sept. 22 resulted in a 2-0 Cardinal victory.

    Morgan Leading Cardinal Offense
Junior midfielder Evan Morgan was a key component to Stanford's offensive attack last weekend at the Stanford Nike Invitational, accounting for the Cardinal's only scoring. Against San Jose State, Morgan's goal gave Stanford a 1-0 lead shortly after halftime. He also found the net during Stanford's 1-1 tie against Cal State Fullerton two days later.

    Head Coach Bret Simon
Head coach Bret Simon enters his sixth year at the helm of the Cardinal program in 2006. Simon has accumulated a 52-42-15 record on The Farm and ranks sixth in the Stanford history books in career wins (52). Simon piloted the Cardinal to consecutive College Cup appearances in his first two seasons, including a trip to the championship game in 2002.

    Looking Ahead
Stanford opens Pac-10 play with a two-game homestand against San Diego State (Sept. 22) and UCLA (Sept. 24). Kick-offs are 7:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively.
