No. 10 Cal Upset By Ohio State, 1-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - No. 10 California dropped a 1-0 decision to Ohio State Friday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the first day of the Ohio State Invitational. With their first loss of 2006, the Golden Bears fell to 4-1-2, while the Buckeyes improved to 3-2-1.
Jenna Greenwood netted what held up as the game-winning goal for Ohio State in the 15th minute when she tapped in the rebound of Laura Dickenmann's long-range shot.
Ohio State outshot Cal, 15-10, but both teams fired six shots on goal. The Bears' offensive intensity improved in the second half, as they held a 7-6 shot advantage.
Senior forward Katie Ratican, freshman forward Lisa Kevorkian and freshman defender Brianna Bak paced the Bears with two shots apiece. Dickenmann and Melissa Miller led the Buckeyes with five and four shots, respectively. All four of Miller's shots were on goal.
Cal senior goalkeeper Anna Key equaled her career high of six saves, and Ohio State's Lauren Robertson secured six saves. Freshman midfielder Kelly Menachof had a chance to tie the game in the 86th minute, but Robertson posted her final save on the play.
The Bears look to get back on track against Dayton Sunday, Sept. 17, at 11:30 a.m. ET on the second day of theBuckeyes' tournament. Dayton (1-2-3) blanked Washington, 1-0, today.
