COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The third-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team extended their season-opening winning streak to 13 matches on Saturday afternoon with victories over Long Island (30-20, 30-25, 30-14) and tournament host Maryland (30-22, 30-23, 30-23) at the Hilton Garden Inn Greenbelt Invitational.

Nana Meriwether and Katie Carter each had 12 kills against the Blackbirds as Meriwether hit .750 for the match with 12 kills on 16 error-free attacks while Katie Carter had 12 kills, four aces and two block assists for a match-high 17 points. UCLA hit .398 as a team for the match, including a .471 team attack percentage in game one and a .455 mark in the third game. Five Bruins hit over.300 individually in the match with all of those players connecting on at least four kills.

UCLA out-dug the Blackbirds 44-34, had six aces to LIU's five and doubled up Long Island on the blocks, 6-3. The Bruins played 14 different student-athletes in the match.

Three Bruins posted double-figure kills in UCLA's tournament finale against host Maryland, led by Ali Daley with 19 kills. Daley finished with 20 points in the match, adding two block assists. Nana Meriwether contributed 14 kills and five block assists for the contest and posted five block assists for 16.5 points while hitting .684 on 19 attacks. Kaitlin Sather added 10 kills off the bench, adding a service ace and a block assist for 11.5 points.

Nellie Spicer had 50 assists in the match and had three of UCLA's eight service aces, a total matched by Colby Lyman who had six kills, three aces and three block assists for 10.5 points. Spicer piloted the Bruin offense to a .397 attack percentage for the match, including a .357 mark in game one, .400 in game two and .436 in game three.

After 11 days away from Los Angeles, the Bruins will spend 72 hours on campus this week before opening Pac-10 play with matches at Oregon on Thursday and Oregon State on Friday.
