Moreno, Marin Pace USC In Daytona

Junior Paola Moreno and senior Catalina Marin are both among the top 20 individually in a 90-woman field, pacing the USC women's golf team on the second day of the 2006 Golf Daytona Beach Women's Fall Preview, hosted by Central Florida University and the Central Florida Sports Commission, on Saturday (Sept. 22).

The Women of Troy are tied for 11th with a 605 (304-301, +29). Georgia continues to lead the tournament with a combined 584. Among the 18-team field are 17 teams that finished last season ranked in the Top 20.

Moreno is tied for 11th after her second day 74 (+2) left her at 147 overall (+3). Marin, meanwhile, moved into a tie for 19th after a team-best 73 (+1) gave her a 148 (+4). Marin birdied three holes, including the 9th for the second day in a row, while Moreno had a pair of birdies.

Junior Dewi-Claire Schreefel is tied for 46th after her 77 gave her a 153 (+9), while freshman Caroline Kim is tied for 63rd after her 77 put her at 157 (+13). Senior Veronica Felibert rounded out USC's squad with an 80 for a two-day 161 (+17), tied for 77th.

Competition concludes Sunday, with play starting at 8:30 a.m. (EST).
