Two-Tournament Weekend For Husky Men's Golf

Seattle - The Husky men's golf team heads in two directions this weekend, with five golfers playing in the PING/Golfweek Preview in Williamsburg, Va. and five others competing at the Northwest Collegiate Classic in Corvallis, Ore. The team is fresh off a second-place finish at the Opus NW Husky Invitational, where sophomore John Wise took home medalist honors and two other Huskies finished in the top-10.
The top five finishers from the Opus NW Husky Invitational will play Oct. 2-4 in the PING/Golfweek Preview at the par-70, 6,809-yard Golden Horseshoe Country Club in Williamsburg Va., which is the host site of the 2007 NCAA Championships. Sophomore John Wise, seniors Alex Prugh and Erik Olson and newcomers Joel Dahmen and Chris Killmer will get the chance to preview the course they that will ideally play in June of 2007 for a shot at the NCAA title. The tournament includes 11 ranked teams, including Arizona State, BYU, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Lamar, Minnesota, UNLV, defending national champion Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and host Virginia Commonwealth. The rest of the Huskies will head to the Trysting Tree Golf Course for the Northwest Collegiate Classic on Oct. 2-3. Nick Taylor, Darren Wallace, Zach Bixler, Kellen Eakin and Chris Evans form the Husky lineup at the event, which includes Oregon State, College of Charleston, Long Beach State, Oregon, Portland, St. Mary's, San Diego, San Francisco, UC Irvine and Washington State. The par-72 course will play at 7,000 yards during the first two rounds and 7,030 yards for the final round, with the 17th hole being played at a longer distance on the second day.
