Vote For Nate Robinson!
Sept. 28, 2006
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Former Washington basketball standout Nate Robinson is taking on the big boys again. The 5-foot-8 New York Knicks guard won the 2006 NBA Slam Dunk contest in his rookie season.
An image of his most memorable dunk during the All-Star festivities is among three photos remaining in the running for the Photo of the Year award. Photographer Nathaniel S. Butler captured the shot of Robinson elevating over former dunk champion Spud Webb just before slamming the ball through the rim.
Fans have been voting online for their favorite photos on the official NBA website.

Robinson's photo already dispatched images of LeBron James and Steve Nash to advance into a semifinal matchup with Hakim Warrick.
Vince, Kobe and 14 other guys. That has been the story through the first eight years of the Photo of the Year competition, as Vince Carter (3) and Kobe Bryant (4) have won seven of the eight titles.
Last year, Fernando Medina's shot of Bryant's facial on Dwight Howard defeated David Sherman's Vince Carter image to break a 3-3 tie.
But this year, Kobe has been elimated by Ben Wallace and Hakim Warrick took out Vince. We're down to the semifinals and with Ben Wallace's defeat of Dwight Howard, there are only three competitors remaining.
Robinson (with a little help from Spud Webb) now faces Warrick with the winner moving on to the finals to face Wallace.
And it's up to you to decide. Come back every day to vote for your favorite photos and help us determine which is the 2005-06 Photo of the Year. Semifinal voting ends Sunday.
