Quinn and Wiggins Named to Street & Smith's Terrific 10

Sept. 29, 2006

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Standout guards Noelle Quinn of UCLA and Candice Wiggins of STANFORD have been named to Street & Smith's 'Terrific 10,' the publication's list of the top 10 players in the nation.

Quinn, a Los Angles, Calif. native, garners national praise having averaged 18.1 points and 8.2 rebounds as a junior last season, earning first-team All-Pac-10 honors for the second time in her career. The 6-0 Bishop Montgomery-product paced the Pac-10 in double-doubles last season (10), while finishing third in 20-point games (14). Quinn was a three-time Pac-10 Player of the Week in 2005-06, and needs just one more weekly honor to become the league's all-time leader.

Wiggins, hailing from San Diego, Calif., became just the sixth player in Conference history to receive two Pac-10 Player of the Year awards, and the fifth to receive the honor in consecutive seasons. The 5-11 guard paced the Conference in scoring last season, averaging 21.8 points per game, the highest average in eight years. Wiggins, a two-time Kodak/WBCA All-American, has been a candidate for both the Naismith Trophy and State Farm Wade Trophy.

Pac-10 basketball officially tips off on Tues., Oct. 31 as CALIFORNIA will play in an exhibition game at Haas Pavilion at 7 p.m. ARIZONA, OREGON STATE, UCLA and WASHINGTON will take to the court the following day to begin their exhibition season.
