Los Angeles, Calif. - Seventeenth-ranked UCLA scored yet another upset of an undefeated Top 10 team, downing fourth-ranked Washington, 2-1, in double overtime in front of 1,891 at Frank W. Marshall Field. Freshman James Jaramillo scored the game-winning goal, smacking in a rebound of a Kyle Nakazawa shot with 18 seconds left to play. The loss was the first blemish in Washington's record this season, making the Huskies the third undefeated team in a row that UCLA has handed its first loss.

UCLA struck first in the contest at 31:14 when junior defender Mike Zaher dribbled up the middle and fired a rocket into the right corner past Washington goalkeeper Rylan Hawkins. The goal was Zaher's second of the season.

Washington kept the pressure up in the second half, totaling seven shots and six corner kicks. But down a goal, the Huskies' situation looked grim when midfielder Steve Mohn was red-carded in the 84th minute. However, Washington kept the attack up and equalized at 88:21. Husky defender Ty Harden dribbled into the box past a couple of UCLA defenders and fired in a shot from close range past freshman goalkeeper Brian Perk.

In the two overtime periods, UCLA took control offensively, outshooting the Huskies, 10-2. In the final minute, the game appeared to be heading towards a draw when Nakazawa unleashed a rocket from the right side that was blocked. Jaramillo swooped in on the rebound and made his first collegiate goal a memorable one, ending the game with the golden goal at 109:42.

Perk made seven saves in his first home start of the year. Hawkins had eight saves for the Huskies.

With the win, UCLA improves to 5-3-2 overall, 1-1-1 in the Pac-10. The last three Bruin victories have come against undefeated Top 10 teams from Santa Clara, San Francisco and Washington. The Huskies drop to 8-1-0, 1-1-0 in the Pac-10. UCLA will next host Oregon State on Sunday, Oct. 1 at 2:30 pm, while Washington visits San Diego State.
