Men's Golf Completes Round One at Two Tournaments

The Husky men's golf team completed the first round of two separate tournaments today, with the varsity squad competing at the PING/Golfweek Preview at the Golden Horseshoe Country Club in Williamsburg, Va., and the junior varsity playing as individuals in the Northwest Collegiate Classic at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore.
The men's varsity team sits in 15th place after the first round of the PING/Golfweek Preview, and was led by sophomore John Wise's 1-over 73. Freshman Joel Dahmen and senior Alex Prugh sit in a tie for 46th with their 2-over 74, while Erik Olson's 5-over 77 was good for a tie for 64th. Newcomer Chris Killmer finished in 72nd with his 8-over 80.
The junior varsity team was led by Zach Bixler, who sits in second place after shooting a 3-under 69. Freshman Kellen Eakin shot a 2-over 74, good for a tie for 20th, and teammates Nick Taylor and Darren Wallace sit in a tie for 31st with their 3-over 75s. Chris Evans rounded out the Husky scoring with a 9-over 81.
The junior varsity team continues their second round today, and final day one scores will be posted later this evening on gohuskies.com. The varsity team tees off Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 5:20 a.m. PT for the second round of the PING/Golfweek Preview.
