Stanford Softball Team Gives Back To The Community

Oct. 3, 2006

San Francisco, Ca - For the past several years, the Stanford softball team has been actively involved in giving back to the Bay Area community.

The list of charitable events have included clinics for underprivileged kids, and an annual blood drive. Last Sunday, the Cardinal softball team and coaching staff continued its service to the community by meeting at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco to participate in a breakfast to feed nearly 400 homeless people.

'It is always exciting to give back to the community,' said Trisha Ford, Stanford's assistant softball coach, who organized the team's trip to Glide Memorial Church. 'The team has always been active in extending a friendly hand to the community.'

The breakfast is part of the Glide Memorial Church 'Free Meals Program'. The program serves three nutritious meals a day to the city's poor and homeless every day of the year. It adds up to more than one million meals annually. For information on the Free Meals Program, call (415) 674-6040 or email
