Visico Falls In Final Qualifying Round

Oct. 4, 2006

LOS ANGELES - California junior Cristina Visico will not join her teammates, senior Zsuzsanna Fodor and Susie Babos in the main draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Visico was defeated in the third round of the qualifying tournament by Kellie Schmitt of Marshall, 6-4, 6-3 at the Riviera Tennis Club on Wednesday.

The Golden Bears will have two representatives in the main draw, which begins tomorrow and continues through Oct. 8. Cal will roll into the event with some momentum as Babos, the reigning NCAA singles champion, comes in after winning the singles tournament at the Cal Invitational last weekend.

Fodor, last season's Pac-10 singles champion, will square off against Diana Srebrovic of Florida in her first round matchup. Babos' opponent has not been announced yet.
