Women Of Troy Set For Edean Ihlanfeldt On Monday

Oct. 6, 2006

The USC women's golf team, ranked 19th in the most recent Golfweek.com Top 25, will test its mettle in the Northwest when it participates in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee C.C. in Redmond, Wash., Monday through Wednesday (Oct. 9-11).

Andrea Gaston, in her 11th season as head coach, will take with her a different lineup than the one she employed in USC's first two events.

The fivesome of senior Catalina Marin, juniors Paola Moreno and Stephanie Hickerson, sophomore Shelcie Takenouchi and freshman Caroline Kim will play in a practice round on Sunday and will tee off at 9 a.m. on Monday.

Gaston is without junior All-American Dewi-Claire Schreefel and senior Veronica Felibert, who won USC's first tournament of the season.

Both are representing their respective countries (Schreefel is from The Netherlands and Felibert is from Venezuela) in the 2006 World Amateur Team Championships in Stellenbosch, South Africa., October 18-21, and are unable to attend the event in Washington because of scheduling issues.

Marin, Moreno and Kim will be playing in their third tournaments of the season while Takenouchi and Hickerson will be making their 2006-2007 debuts. Takenouchi played in three events as a freshman last year while Hickerson played in one as a sophomore.

USC was third at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational last year.

Live results for the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational will be available at Golfstat.com.
