Pooler/Clarke Duo Wins Doubles Title at Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The Sun Devil Doubles duo of Kady Pooler and Roxanne Clarke stepped up to claim the doubles title Sunday afternoon at the 2006 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. The fourth-seeded Devils faced off against the third-seeded duo of the defending All-American champs, Catrina and Christian Thompson of Notre Dame, taking an 8-4 victory over the Irish.

Airzona State's Clark and Pooler, the No. 4 seeds, jumped out to a 5-0 lead against the third-seeded Thompson twins of Notre Dame. Clarke and Pooler, both seniors, give the Sun Devil program its first All-American doubles championship. The Thompsons were playing in a record third straight final at Riviera.
ASU's Clark and Pooler, who hail from South Africa and Laguna Nigel, Calif,, respectively, won four matches in four days with three of those over teams ranked in the top 30 in the country. 
Next up for the Sun Devil's are the ITA Regional Championships in San Deigo, on October 18-22.
