Moreno Tied For Third At Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

Junior Paola Moreno fired the lowest round of the day, a 1-under 71 that left her tied for third to lead the No. 19 USC women's golf team on the second day of the 2006 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee C.C. in Redmond, Wash., on Tuesday (Oct. 10).
The Women of Troy posted a combined 308 (+20) for a two-day 618 (+42), to tie for seventh with Washington after 36 holes. Stanford took over the lead with a combined 297 for a two-day 600 (+24). Stanford was the only school to break 300 while USC's 308 was fifth best among the 15-team field.
Moreno was sharp all day, going 1-under on the front nine and posting four birdies on the day, including on the 18th hole. She is tied for third with a 147 (+3), seven shots back of Stanford's Mari Chun (140).
Senior Catalina Marin also had a strong effort, carding a 1-over 73 for a two-day 149 (+5), tied for seventh. She was also 1-under on the front nine and like Moreno, finished the day with a birdie on the 18th hole.
Junior Stephanie Hickerson improved upon her first-round 82 with an 80 on Tuesday for an overall 162 (+18), tying for 54th in the 77-person field. Sophomore Shelcie Takenouchi posted an 84 for a two-day 162 (+18) to fall into a tie with Hickerson. Freshman Caroline Kim finished with an 87 for a combined 167 (+23), tied for 67th.
