Men's Basketball to Host Central Washington in Exhibition Match

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State men's basketball team will host Central Washington University in an exhibition match at Friel Court, Sunday, Nov. 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and admission is free.

First-year head coach Tony Bennett inherits a team that returns 74 percent of its scoring, 83 percent of its rebounding, 84 percent of its starts, and 77 percent of its minutes played from 2005-06.

Although this is an exhibition match, the Cougars have faced the Wildcats in regular season match-ups 26 times and boast a 23-3 record. The last meeting between the two came in 1998, which resulted in a 91-78 Cougar victory.

Central Washington is led by former Cougar Lance Ben Doer, who averaged 20.6 points last season. The Wildcats were 15-13 during the 2005-06 campaign, which ended in a NCAA Division II First Round loss to Seattle Pacific University.

WSU opens its regular season at the John Thompson Foundation Classic hosted by UW-Milwaukee, Nov. 10-12, where it will face Radford, UAB and UW-Milwaukee.
