The 2006-07 Basketball Campain Officially Begins

Oct. 13, 2006

The 2006-07 men's basketball campaign has officially begun as the Trojans held their first practice tonight (Oct. 13) on campus at the North Gym.

The Trojan squad will feature a blend of talented veterans in seniors Abdoulaye N'diaye and Lodrick Stewart along with juniors Nick Young and Gabe Pruitt, to a strong group of freshmen.

Young is the conference's top returning scorer, as he averaged 17.3 points on the way to All-Pac-10 honors. Pruitt, ineligible for the first semester due to academic issues, also was an All-Pac-10 selection as he poured in 16.9 points.

Last season, USC finished with a 17-13 mark in head coach Tim Floyd's first season in charge, a dramatic improvement from the previous season and the fourth-best first season by a USC head basketball coach in school history.

The Trojans will soon be shifting their practices over to the new practice facility built adjacent to USC's new basketball home - the Galen Center - which opened Thursday (Oct. 12), when the USC women's volleyball team hosted Stanford.

The men will hold their first home game in the spectacular new arena on Nov. 16, when two-time defending NIT Champion South Carolina will face the Trojans in the season-opener. Fans can get their first glimpse of the USC basketball team on Oct. 28, when they will play the Cardinal and Gold scrimmage game at the Galen Center at 1 p.m.
