This Week - The Washington State University tennis team travels to the University of California at Berkeley to participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional...tournament wraps up fall play for the Cougars.

Participating in the ITA Regional - The teams competing in this year's regional range from Northern California, Washington, Oregon and parts of Idaho...last year, WSU sent Ekaterina Burduli and Marjolein van de Ven to the singles sweet sixteen.

Jack Taylor Classic Recap - WSU sent eight players to the tournament in Boise, Idaho...junior Burduli highlighted the tournament as she went unbeaten in two matches...senior van de Ven followed with a 2-1 record...newcomer Ashley Spicer and sophomore Aleksandra Cekic finished the tournament with a win each.

Newcomers - Cougars two newcomers have accumulated six wins in two tournaments for WSU...Spicer leads the way with a 4-3 record...Opata and Toth have teamed up for doubles play and have a 1-1 record.

Team Leaders - Burduli and van de Ven after a successful weekend in Boise lead the team in wins and winning percentages. Burduli is 8-2 with a winning percentage of .800...van de Ven follows with five wins and has a winning percentage of .571.

ITA All-America - Burduli and senior Amy Toth participated in the ITA All-American Championships, Sept. 30- Oct. 8...Toth was ousted in the second round of the prequalifying draw...Burduli lost her first round match in the qualifying draw, but bounced back to reach the semifinal in consolation play.

Rankings - The ITA preseason rankings has Burduli ranked 47th.

What's Ahead - The tournament concludes fall play for the Cougars...after the tournament the team will prepare for its home season-opening doubleheader against in-state rivals Gonzaga and Eastern Washington, Jan. 20 at Pullman.
