Husky Men's Golf Team Competes in Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge

Bandon, Ore. - The Husky men's golf team heads to Bandon, Ore., for the 2006 Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge held on Monday, Oct. 23 and Tuesday, Oct. 24. Held on the Pacific Dunes Course of the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, the tournament will play at par-71 and 6,633 yards.

The Washington lineup for the event includes senior Alex Prugh, 2006 UBC Thunderbird Invitational champion Zach Bixler, freshman Nick Taylor, senior Erik Olson and freshman Joel Dahmen. Prugh, currently ranked 22nd in the country by GolfWeek, leads the Huskies with a 70.33 stroke average.

The participating teams from the Pac-10 Conference are Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington, while the Big Ten sends Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Wisconsin. A conference challenge competition will take place in addition to the normal team competition, with each conference counting its lowest five team scores of each round.

Washington finished fifth last year at the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, with James Lepp taking second-place honors.
