Box Score

Corvallis, OR - The 10th-ranked Bruins showed a deadly efficiency, scoring goals on their first three shots to hand Oregon State a 3-0 defeat. Freshman forward David Estrada scored the game-winner in the first half, and sophomore forward Jason Leopoldo netted two second-half goals to propel UCLA to its fifth consecutive victory.

UCLA's only shot of the first half resulted in an Estrada goal in the 11th minute. Midfielder Sal Zizzo sent in a cross from the left side, and Estrada ran into the middle of the box and headed it in for his fourth goal of the year.

The Beavers took the first couple of shots of the second half but the Bruins were the ones to finish their opportunities. In the 52nd minute, Leopoldo stole the ball from an OSU defender on the right side of the box, dribbled back toward the middle and hit a hard, low shot from 20 yards that snuck in inside the left post. His and the Bruins' next shot came in the 65th minute when Leopoldo worked a perfect give-and-go with Estrada, got the ball in the middle of the box and poked it inside the right post past Beaver keeper Packy Deenihan.

UCLA had just one shot go off-target, in the 78th minute. Oregon State took 12 shots, five of which were saved by Bruin goalkeeper Eric Reed, who picked up his third shutout of the year.

The Bruins' record improves to 9-3-2, 4-1-1 in the Pac-10 Conference. Oregon State drops to 5-10-1, 0-8-0 in the Pac-10. UCLA will next visit Washington on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 2:30 pm.
