UCLA Women's Rowing Races in Head of the Charles

Los Angeles - The UCLA women's rowing team's V8+ captured a 19th-place finish in the championship eights race at the Head of the Charles in Boston on Sunday, Oct. 22. The Bruins finished ahead of 26 crews in the regatta's field of 45.

The Bruins' V8+ crew consisted of seniors Brittany Merchant, Alexis Kalionzes, Leah Wachtel, Erin Rice, Kirsten Potenza, Elizabeth Lee and Jessica Fritz. Junior Erin Haggerty and sophomore Vanessa Teff also joined the seven seniors in Boston.

UCLA finished the championship eights race in 16 minutes, 51.324 seconds. U.S. Rowing Princeton Training Center took first place in the race, posting a time of 15:36.733. The London Training Center, Princeton's collegiate team, Virginia and Yale rounded out the top five.

Stanford, San Diego, Washington and Washington State and UCLA were the only West Coast schools represented in the championship eights race on Sunday.

The Bruins return to action Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Head of the Marina in Marina Del Rey, Calif.
