In addition, Hughes has been tabbed as a semifinalist for the Lott Trophy as the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The Lott Trophy takes into equal consideration a player's achievements on the field as well as his off-the-field contributions to his school and community.

The announcement of the winners of the Maxwell and Bednarik Awards will be made during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show that will be broadcast on ESPN on Thursday December 7, 2006. Three finalists for each award will be in attendance for the ESPN broadcast. The Maxwell Football Club will announce the winner of the 18th George Munger Award via a press release in December. The formal presentation of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club's Awards Dinner, to be held on Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Harrah's Entertainment Complex in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Voters for the Lott Trophy include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, the Board of Directors of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation and Master Coaches, a distinguished group of former head college coaches. The watch list will be trimmed to seven semifinalists on Nov. 9 and the three finalists will be announced Nov. 27. The winner will be announced at a gala black-tie banquet at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach Dec. 10. (Note: the banquet is sold out)

Golden Bear players are still under consideration for other national awards that have not released semifinalist lists at this time.
