BERKELEY, Calif. - No. 24 California took 11 more shots than Oregon, but the teams tied 0-0 in double overtime Friday afternoon at Edwards Stadium. The Golden Bears are now 8-4-5 (1-3-3 Pac-10), while the Ducks are 10-5-2 (4-0-2).

'That was the best we've played in quite some time,' said Cal head coach Kevin Boyd. 'I'm pleased we played that well, but I'm not happy we didn't score a goal. We created 16 shots and had some great chances in overtime. It's a credit to the team to come out with that energy during overtime and keep pushing to get one. You have to stick the ball in the net to get the win. We had 16 shots to five over a good Oregon team. We played good soccer today. That's what's important. That's what we've been working to do.'

Freshman forward Lisa Kevorkian and freshman midfielder Kelly Menachof each launched four of Cal's 16 shots. Five different players took Oregon's five shots. Ducks forward Nicole Garbin entered the game as her team's leader in points (19) and goals (9), including seven game-winning goals, but the Bears' defense held her to one shot in the 89th minute that sailed above the crossbar.

Cal held a 5-1 shot advantage in overtime and had an excellent opportunity to post the golden goal in each extra period. In the 95th minute, Kevorkian served a cross from the left side into the box which got redirected to Cal senior forward Julia Schnugg who forced Oregon goalkeeper Jessie Hatfield to make a tough save from close range.

Bears junior midfielder Caitlin Hannegan streaked towards goal in the 108th minute, but Hatfield came off her line and saved Hannegan's second shot of overtime.

Freshman goalkeeper Gina Pellegrini secured two saves to earn her second shutout of the season and Cal's ninth as a team.

Cal, which is now 8-1-1 all-time against Oregon, returns to action against Oregon State Sunday at 1 p.m. at Edwards Stadium.
