BERKELEY, Calif. - Freshman forward Lisa Kevorkian and senior forward Julia Schnugg each posted a goal and an assist to lead No. 24 California to a 2-0 victory over Oregon State Sunday afternoon at Edwards Stadium. The Golden Bears improved to 9-4-5 overall (2-3-3 Pac-10) with their 10th shutout of the season, while the Beavers dropped to 8-8-2 (1-6).

'I told the team that if we played like we did on Friday (against Oregon) and if the forwards were a bit angry because they didn't get one on Friday, we will score goals,' said Cal head coach Kevin Boyd. 'As long as we did what we did on Friday (outshot the Ducks, 16-5), we will get goals, and that's what we did. We played great, and our defense was outstanding. Our forwards showed up and were adamant about getting goals. It was obvious the way we attacked.'

After a scoreless first half, Kevorkian netted her first goal of the season in the 51st minute when she converted a through ball from Schnugg to the far post. The play began when Schnugg made a solid dribbling run down the center of the field and found Kevorkian with a well placed ball to the right side.

Schnugg added an insurance goal - her fourth of the season -- for the Bears in the 61st minute when she capitalized on a scramble in the box after a Cal corner kick. Senior forward Katie Ratican delivered the corner kick from the left side of the field to the far post, and senior midfielder Nadia Al-Lami headed the ball to Kevorkian who struck the ball on frame. Schnugg then headed the ball over Oregon State goalkeeper Melissa Onstad and into the net.

Cal held a commanding 20-3 shot advantage over Oregon State, including a 12-0 edge in shots on goal. Schnugg paced the Bears with five shots. Freshman goalkeeper Gina Pellegrini didn't have to make a save to earn her third shutout of the season and her first victory. Onstad grabbed nine saves for the Beavers.

The Bears held the Beavers Jodie Taylor, who entered the weekend as the Pac-10's leader with 21 points, to no shots in her 66 minutes on the field.

Cal wraps up the regular season at home against No. 4 Santa Clara Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. and versus No. 17 Stanford Sunday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m.
