Sun Devils Win Singles and Doubles Title at 2006 Thunderbird Tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. - In his first home tournament at the ASU Whiteman Tennis Center, freshman Juan Carlos Rebaza grabbed the singles title and with teammate TJ Bellama, the doubles title Sunday afternoon as ASU wrapped up its annual Thunderbird Tournament.
In the singles main draw final, Juan Carlos Rebaza faced-off against fellow Devil, Wes Miller, with Miller coming out to take the first set 4-6 before Rebaza battled back to take the second 6-2, and finish off Miller in the third set with a 6-4 win.
The doubles main draw final saw Rebaza take the court again paired up with TJ Bellama where they faced fellow Sun Devils, Matthew Brooklyn and Wes Miller with both duos fighting hard to push the match into a tie-break, which saw Rebaza and Bellama barely edge ahead for the title with a 9-8(3) win.
Sunday's consolation's matches also saw Matthew Brooklyn, Nick Hegarty and Jack Marsh all take singles wins, as well as Nick Hegarty and Jack Marsh pairing up to top the Rizk/Perez duo from Scottsdale Community College, 8-2.
The Sun Devils will begin to wrap up their fall season with only the ITA National Indoors left on their schedule. The National Indoors run from November 2-6 in Columbus, Ohio at Ohio State University.
