Fodor Advances to ITA Indoor Singles Consolation Final

COLUMBUS, Ohio - California senior Zsuzsanna Fodor advanced to Sunday's consolation final of the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships with victories in Saturday's quarterfinals and semifinals at the Racquet Club of Columbus.

Fodor began the day with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over UCLA's Riza Alameda in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Fodor ousted UT-Chattanooga Anastasia Zhukova, 6-3, 6-2.

Fodor will face Stanford's Celia Durkin Sunday at 10 a.m. ET in the consolation final.

In other quarterfinal consolation action for the Bears, Suzi Babos fell to USC's Sarah Fansler, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. Nina Henkel lost to Zhukova in three sets.

In doubles consolation play, Fodor and Babos defeated Northwestern's Georgia Rose and Alexis Prousis, 8-6, in the semifinals and will battle Notre Dame's Catrina Thompson and Christian Thompson Sunday at 9 a.m. ET in the final.
