Three Cougars Earn All-Pac-10 Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State junior Allison Scurich and freshman Carly Dobratz were named to the 2006 Pacific-10 All-Conference second team while junior Brynn Bemis earned honorable mention accolades, it was announced Thursday. Dobratz also earned a spot on the 2006 Pac-10 All-Freshman team.

A native of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Scurich started in all 20 games for the Cougars. She finished the 2006 season with three goals and 13 shots. Her most memorable goals of the season included a 36-yard direct free kick in the Cougars' 2-0 upset over then-No. 19 California and the game-winning header off an Anna Miller corner kick in the final match of the 2006 season to defeat Arizona 1-0.

Scurich also anchored a WSU defense that recorded ten shutouts on the season, tying a school record in the process. The defense also allowed only 15 goals in 20 matches to set a WSU single-season record.

Freshman Carly Dobratz started in 15 matches for WSU and recorded three goals and five assists in the 2006 season. She led all Cougar scorers with 42 total shots and scored her first career goal against Utah in WSU's double overtime 2-1 loss. She posted her second goal of the season in the Cougars' 2-0 win over Idaho and scored the game winner over in-state rival Washington.

Junior goalkeeper Brynn Bemis posted a 6-4-3 overall record in 14 matches for WSU. Despite being sidelined by injury in the middle of the season, she recorded seven solo shutouts, tying her for second place in the Cougar single season record books. Bemis had a career-high nine saves twice during the season and boasted a 0.69 goals against average, setting a WSU single-season record. With 66 total saves, Bemis' 0.868 save percentage ranked her 18th nationally upon season's end.

The Cougars finished in fourth place in the Pac-10 Conference with a 9-7-4 overall record and a 4-3-2 record in conference play.
