Beavers Fall In Closing Seconds To SE Louisiana

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Quennell Green had 18 points, Kevyn Green added 14, and Southeastern Louisiana beat Oregon State 65-63 Saturday night in the Oregon Rain Invitational.

Freshman Josh Tarver had 13 of his 16 points in the second half for the Beavers (1-1). Sasa Cuic added 13.

Terry Bryant hit the go-ahead jumper with 15 seconds left. Marcel Jones had a chance to tie the game with two seconds left, but his jump hook from the free throw line bounced off the front rim.

Daryl Cohen had 12 points, all on 3-pointers for the Lions (2-0), who beat Cal Poly in the first game of the invitational Friday night.

Kyle Jeffers had 11 points, and Jones had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Beavers, who beat Portland 65-48 Friday night.

The Lions made 9 of 21 3-pointers and led 41-33 at 17:57 in the second after Quennell Green made two free throws. But the Beavers went on a 14-2 run, with Tarver scoring seven of the points to give the Beavers a 47-43 lead.

Bryant made a 3-pointer for Southeastern Louisiana to make it 63-60. Cuic hit two free throws, and Tarver made 1 of 2 to tie it with 48 seconds to go, setting up Bryant's final basket.

Kevyn Green, from Portland's Benson Tech, is the nephew of former Oregon State and NBA great A.C. Green.
