Two Cardinal Players Named Finalists for Soccer Buzz Postseason Awards

Nov. 14, 2006

Stanford, Calif. - Two Stanford women's soccer players have been recognized by Soccer Buzz Magazine as finalists for the National Player of the Year and National Freshman of the Year awards. Senior defender Rachel Buehler is one of 14 finalists for Player of the Year, while freshman forward Kelley O'Hara is one of 14 in contention for Freshman of the Year.

Buehler has been the anchor of one of the country's top defensive units, which boasts 14 shutouts on the year and the 14th-best goals-against average in the nation. O'Hara is the offensive leader for the Cardinal, with nine goals and 20 points this season. Buehler and O'Hara were both selected to the All-Pac-10 First Team last week, and have led the Cardinal to its first NCAA Third Round appearance since 2002.
