Rachel Buehler Named an NSCAA All-American
Dec. 6, 2006
Stanford, Calif. - Stanford defender Rachel Buehler was named to the 2006 NSCAA/adidas Women's Division I All-America Second Team, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America last week. Buehler was among the 35 players selected to the three All-America teams, and one of four players to represent the Pac-10.
Buehler was the anchor of the Stanford defense in 2006, leading the team to one of the top-10 shutout percentages in the nation (.652), with 15 on the year. The senior also helped the team to one of the lowest goals-against averages in the nation (.55) and captained the squad that advanced to the NCAA Third Round.
The honor is the first of Buehler's career. The redshirt junior becomes Stanford's 26th all-time All-American and the first Cardinal All-American since Nicole Barnhart and Hayley Hunt earned the status in 2004.
The honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, as part of the 2007 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.
