Oregon State Blasts Bethune-Cookman, 72-49

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Marcel Jones has 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Oregon State to a 72-49 win over Bethune-Cookman Saturday.

Damitrius Coleman had 10 points to lead the Wildcats (2-3).

Wesley Washington had a career-high 15 points and Sasa Cuic added nine for the Beavers (5-4), who led by as many as 32 in the game.

The Wildcats shot just 28.6 percent in the second half after going into halftime down 34-23. They never led in the game.

The Beavers led 20-6 in the first half but had periods of trouble as Bethune-Cookman switched between various zone defenses. The Beavers increased their lead to 51-31 when Jones scored halfway through the second, and he scored again at 6:26 to make it 57-33.

The Wildcats scored nine straight points at the end of the game against a group of seldom used Beaver bench players.

Dewayne Pettus had nine points, John Anderson had eight and Kevan Creppy had seven for Bethune-Cookman.

Josh Tarver had seven points and four assists for the Beavers.

Oregon State and Bethune-Cookman have met once previously, a 69-56 Beaver win at Gill Coliseum in 2004.
