Bears Drop Road Contest at DePaul

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Wilson Chandler scored 22 points and Draelon Burns added 16 off the bench as DePaul defeated California 90-62 Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 36-33 at the half, DePaul (8-5) took control of the game by outscoring Cal 16-3 to start the second half. Burns found Chandler for an alley-oop dunk to start the run and Marcus Heard had a basket and hit a 3-pointer to give DePaul a 42-39 lead. Burns was 3-for-5 from the 3-point range.

Freshman Ryan Anderson led Cal (8-4) with 24 points and a career-high 16 rebounds and Eric Vierneisel scored 11 points off the bench.

DePaul shot 70 percent in the second half and held Cal to 26 percent.

Marcus Heard added 13 points and eight rebounds for DePaul and Sammy Mejia contributed with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Heard extended the DePaul lead to 77-55 with a three-point play with 3:23 left in the game.

The Golden Bears led 36-33 at the half.

California played without starting center DeVon Hardin who is expected to miss up to 12 weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot.

Jabari Currie scored a season-high 12 points off the bench for the Blue Demons.
