Dec. 23, 2006

SAN DIEGO - The California football team began arriving in San Diego on Saturday morning, beginning its five days of preparation for the 29th annual Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. The bowl game will kickoff at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28th at Qualcomm Stadium as the Golden Bears battle Texas A&M.

Fans will have a unique opportunity to get an inside look at the Bear bowl experience through a series of video vignettes which will be available at each morning during the week. These free videos will include interviews and footage of various events from the bowl activities. In addition, all press conferences will also be available free on the official California athletics web site.

Saturday's schedule includes the arrival of the players and staff as well as a short practice. Sunday will be highlighted by a visit to Sea World while Christmas Day includes a trip to the world-famous San Diego Zoo and a Christmas dinner.

It is just the 15th time that the Golden Bears have won nine or more games in program history. This marks the first time in school history that Cal has advanced to bowl games in four consecutive years.

A limited number of tickets are still available through the Cal Ticket Office, which will open in the lobby of the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego on Tuesday, Dec. 26th at 1 p.m.
