ASU Sophomore Guard Danielle Orsillo Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- ARIZONA STATE sophomore guard Danielle Orsillo has been named the U.S. Bank Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 19-25, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Orsillo, a native of Oroville, Calif., averaged 16.5 points, five rebounds, one assist and 2.5 steals in two games as the Sun Devils defeated Texas Tech and Arizona. On the week, she shot 77.8 percent from the field (14-of-18) and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the foul line.
In the 61-45 win over Texas Tech in the Hoops for Health Classic presented by Shaklee, which was the second ever women's college basketball game to be played outdoors, Orsillo led ASU in scoring with 16 points on 7-of-8 (.875). She also added a career-best six rebounds and tied a career best with three steals against the Lady Raiders.
In Friday's Pac-10 opener, the Sun Devils bested their traditional rival, 89-62, as Orsillo was ASU's second-leading scorer with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting (.700) while also adding four rebounds and two steals. Orsillo has averaged 14.8 points in her last six games, which leads ASU during that span. In those six games, she has connected on .561 percent of her shots and has accomplished all of this despite coming off the bench in all six games.
ASU (11-1 overall, 1-0 Pac-10) will play at California on Thurs., Dec. 28, followed up with a Sat., Dec. 30 game against Stanford, which will be televised live by FSN.
The Player of the Week honor is the first for Orsillo and the 27th all-time selection for Arizona State.
