Milewski Begins Spring No. 36 Nationally; Team Ranked 56th

BOULDER - The University of Colorado tennis team will begin the Spring 2007 season as the No. 56th nationally ranked team released today (Jan. 9) by the Fila/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. The Buffaloes are one of nine Big 12 schools ranked in the top-75 poll.

For the season, CU will play 15 nationally ranked schools on the schedule with their spring opener at Air Force on Jan. 23.

The first home match is Jan. 26 against No. 34 Arizona at the Millennium Harvest House (3 p.m.).

Eight-year head coach Nicole Kenneally has six letterwinners and four newcomers on the spring roster.

In singles, sophomore Monica Milewski will begin the spring as the 36th ranked player. She is the second highest Big 12 Conference player behind Baylor's Zuzanna Zemenova, who is ranked 21st.

Overall, there are eight women from the conference ranked in the top-100.

Milewski ended the fall season with a 9-3 singles record and was ranked No. 86th in the initial preseason singles rankings last September.

For her career, the Park Ridge, Ill. native has a 27-16 singles record.
