No. 1 Women's Tennis Back In Action This Weekend

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 1 Stanford makes its return to the court this weekend, with a split squad competing in a pair of tournaments beginning Friday.

Seniors Theresa Logar and Anne Yelsey, junior Celia Durkin, sophomore Jessica Nguyen and freshman Lindsay Burdette will represent the Cardinal in Las Vegas at the Freeman Invitational.

Juniors Whitney Deason and Lejla Hodzic, along with sophomore Megan Dohney, are scheduled to participate at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Indian Wells, Calif.

In other news, four different Stanford players hold down spots in the latest edition of the ITA national rankings. Nguyen currently leads the pack at No. 8 after finishing the fall with a 9-4 mark that included a 5-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents. Durkin checks in at No. 13, leading the Cardinal with 10 victories.

Burdette has notched a 7-2 record in her rookie season and is ranked No. 39. Logar, who began the preseason at No. 3 overall, finished 5-4 in the fall and finds herself at No. 89 overall.

In doubles, Stanford has three doubles teams ranked in the top-50. Durkin and Nguyen check in at No. 31, Logar and Durkin hold down the No. 36 spot and the team of Deason and Doheny stands at No. 45.
