McClung Selected By Galaxy In MLS Supplemental Draft

Jan. 18, 2007

Senior defender Kiel McClung was selected by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the fourth round of the 2007 Major League Soccer (MLS) Supplemental Draft on Thursday morning.

McClung, a 6-1 defender from Palmdale, Calif. (Quartz Hill HS), started 23 games for the Bruins last season, recording one goal and two assists and earning second-team All-Pac-10 honors. The 2006 team co-captain played in 72 career games for the Bruins, making 56 starts and scoring four goals and five assists. McClung helped lead the Bruins to two of the best defensive seasons in school history. In 2003, the Bruin defense recorded a school record 0.52 goals against average, and in 2005, they recorded the second-most shutouts in school history with 14.

UCLA has produced 46 MLS players in the league's 11 years of existence, the most from any school in the nation.
