USC Radio Broadcasters Arbogast And McDonald Named Finalists For SCSBA Awards
Jan. 23, 2007
USC football radio announcers Pete Arbogast and Paul McDonald have again both been nominated as top three finalists for the upcoming Southern California Sports Broadcasters awards, which will be held on Feb. 5 at Lakeside Country Club in Toluca Lake.
It is the seventh nomination for Arbogast, who is in the final three in the radio play-by-play category with the Dodgers' Vin Scully and the Angels' Rory Markas, who also calls the games for USC men's basketball team, although his nomination is for his work in Anaheim.
Arbogast has just finished his 12th year of broadcasting USC football, a job he has held two different times dating back to 1989. He also announces games for the USC women's basketball team.
McDonald, a former USC and NFL quarterback, has won back-to-back SCSBA awards for best radio color analyst for his work on the USC broadcasts. His competition this year comes from UCLA basketball analyst Don MacLean and Dodgers Spanish language broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela. It is McDonald's sixth nomination in his nine years as USC color analyst.
Tickets for the event, which begins at 11:30 a.m. and features radio and television awards in many categories, plus Hall of Fame inductions, are $75 by calling Rose Gutierrez at 626-331-1354.
