No. 2 Stanford Vs No. 6 USC In Pac-10 Dual Meet

Stanford, Ca - It promises to be one of the top men's swimming and diving dual meets in the country this season when second-ranked Stanford hosts sixth-ranked USC in a Pac-10 contest on Saturday (1/27/07) at 1 p.m. at the Avery Aquatic Center.
Stanford, which has won the Pac-10 title for the past 25 years, is enjoying another outstanding season in 2007. The Cardinal is 3-0 in dual meets this year including recent wins over Arizona (129-112) and Arizona State (169-129).
Several Stanford swimmers have already met the NCAA qualifying 'A' standard. The list includes Shaun Phillips in the 200 free (1:34.84), the 500 free (4:16.31) and the 1650 free (14:51.77), Hongzhe Sun in the 200 fly (1:44.00), the 100 back (47.29), the 200 back (1:41.98) and the 200 IM (1:46.19) and Nate Cass in the 200 breast (1:55.63),
Eight Stanford swimmers and divers will be competing in their final home meet on the Cardinal campus. The list includes swimmers Matt Crowe, Andy Grant, Keenan Newman, Shaun Phillips, Kyle Ransom, Hongzhe Sun, Ben Wildman-Tobriner, and diver Kevin McLean.
USC, like Stanford, enjoys a rich tradition in swimming and diving. The Trojan men finished seventh at the NCAA Championships last year while Stanford placed third. While Stanford won the Pac-10 title for a 25th straight season in 2006, the Trojan men placed third. USC returns seven of its eight All-Americans from last season, which includes seniors Viktor Bodrogi (200 fly finalist), Mihaly Flaskay (relay), Larsen Jensen (500 and 1650 free finalist), Sam Masson (100 fly), Sean Sussex (relay), Michael Hilde (3-meter diving finalist) and Bryce Elser (relay).
