WSU Women's Basketball on the Road Again

COMING UP NEXT: Washington State (5-14 overall; 1-8 Pac-10) hits the road again with a trip to Los Angeles to kick off the second half of Pac-10 play...WSU will have a rematch against USC (11-8 overall; 5-4 Pac-10) and UCLA (10-11 overall; 4-5 Pac-10)...WSU will first face the USC Women of Troy Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the Galen Center...the Cougars then take on the UCLA Bruins Sunday in a 2:00 p.m. game at Pauley Pavilion.

COUGAR RECAP - WASHINGTON 86, WSU 64: WSU had five players in double digits Saturday against archrival Washington but the Huskies snapped a three-game losing streak with an 86-64 win over the Cougars...freshman Marisa Stotler led the way with 15 points while Colleen Betteridge and Katie Appleton each contributed 12 points...other players in double figures included Kate Benz (11) and Dani Montgomery (10)...the Huskies owned a 40-31 lead at halftime and dominated much of the second half...in the first half of action, the Cougars were 5-of-8 from behind the three point line and shot 57 percent from the free throw line...WSU's defense also held UW's Cameo Hicks, the conference's fourth-highest scorer, to a mere 13 points after she failed to score a basket in the first half.
SCOUTING THE WOMEN OF TROY: USC traveled to the desert to face Arizona and No. 10 Arizona State...the Women of Troy posted its biggest comeback of the season against Arizona and defeated the Wildcats 77-68 for its fifth straight win...Shay Murphy scored 30 points for the second time this season...USC was unable to sweep the Arizona schools, however, losing to No. 10 Arizona State 62-54...Murphy is the conference's second-leading scorer with 18.8 ppg and her 8.8 rpg leads the Pac-10...USC has been plagued by injuries recently with three redshirts (Jacki Gemelos, Camille LeNoir and Brynn Cameron) and three injured roster players (Markisha Lea, Aarika Hughes and Hailey Dunham) out of action...the win against Arizona was head coach Mark Trakh's 50th in his third season at USC.
SCOUTING THE BRUINS: UCLA split its weekend games in the desert, losing to No. 10 Arizona State 92-52 Jan. 18 and defeating Arizona 76-73 Jan. 20...senior guard Noelle Quinn became the fifth player in UCLA history to score at least 1,600 points and grab 700 rebounds Thursday at No. 10 Arizona State...Quinn totaled 13 points and four rebounds against the Sun Devils...the Bruins are also led by junior Lindsey Pluimer who ranks second on the team in scoring with 16.1 ppg and third in rebounding (6.1 rpg)...head coach Kathy Olivier is in her 14th season with UCLA.
