Cougars Sign Four New Golfers

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Head Golf Coach Walt Williams announced the signing of Nick Ellis, Dustin Poe, Bryan Sheridan and Kaitlin Parsons to National Letters of Intent Tuesday, Nov. 8.'All three guys have a chance to come in and contribute right away as freshmen. I expect them all to be dominant as high school seniors and continue to improve. They're all great players and members of great families, and Poe even comes from a Cougar family. I think this is our best signing class ever for the men's team,' Williams said.Ellis will join the Cougars from Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee, Wash. During his junior year Ellis won the 4A State title in golf and also qualified for the Junior World Championship in San Diego. In that same season Ellis was also named the All-Big 9 MVP, finishing out his junior year with a 70.1 scoring average.Poe joins the Cougars from Ferris High School in Spokane, Wash. Poe was named to the Greater Spokane League first team and voted team MVP his sophomore and junior seasons. As a sophomore Poe finished first in the GSL district championships, and during his junior season his team finished first at the Junior America's Cup. Poe's family has an extensive Cougar background with both his parents, grandmother, uncle, and two aunts having attended WSU.Sheridan comes to Washington State from La Jolla Country Day High School in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. During his freshman season Sheridan won the Future College World Tour Duke Blue Devil Junior Classic and was picked as an FCWT All-American. As a sophomore Sheridan won the Coastal Conference championship and finished second in the points standing in the California Junior Tour. In his junior season Sheridan won the Arizona State University Junior Classic along with the Toyota Tour Cup Invitational.'I see Kaitlin as having a chance to play right away. She had a solid junior season and is still improving. She's an excellent student, a member of the National Honor Society, and she comes from a great Cougar family. She will be a great addition to the women's team,' Williams said.

Parsons comes to Washington State from Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee, Wash. During each of her first three seasons Parsons was named to the All-Big 11 team and finished second at the 4A district competition during her junior season. Parsons also found success during her sophomore season when she won the Washington Junior Golf Association district title.
