Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight Over Cal Poly

TEMPE, Ariz. - Keeping their perfect 21-0 singles record alive, the #23 Sun Devil Women's Tennis team won their third straight dual match Sunday 7-0 over the Cal Poly Mustangs. The Devils stand at a perfect 3-0 on the season.

The Devils started off slow in doubles, with the eighth-ranked duo of Kady Pooler and Roxanne Clarke topped Cal Poly's Steffi Wong and Carol Erickson 8-3, while Sabrina Capannolo and Jessica Leitch were just able to seal the point as they beat Diane Filip and Brittany Blalock 9-8(8).

In singles action, the Devils came out on fire, taking all six matches in straight sets. Sisters, Laila and Nadia Abdala took home wins with Laila defeating Maria Malec 6-2, 6-0 and Nadia topping Brittany Blalock 6-1, 6-0.

The seniors took the rest home for the Sun Devils as Sabrina Capannolo, Rebecca Rankin, Kady Pooler and Roxanne Clarke all took their matches in straight sets.

The Sun Devils return to action next week as they take on their first ranked opponent of the season, #21 Fresno State. The match is set for 1:30 p.m. next Thursday, February 1, at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center.
