UCLA Baseball Picked Fourth in Pac-10 Preseason Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA was selected third in the Pac-10 Conference's preseason baseball coaches poll, the conference announced Monday. The Bruins were picked to finish behind Arizona State, Oregon State and Stanford, respectively.

Arizona State was tabbed to finish first and earned 57 total points, including four of nine possible first-place votes. Oregon State, the 2006 NCAA Champion, received three first-place votes and 55 points overall. Stanford was picked third with two first-place votes, bringing its total to 51 points. The Bruins earned 44 points overall, two more than Arizona, which was selected to finish fifth.

USC, California, Washington State and Washington rounded out the Pac-10 preseason baseball poll.

UCLA, ranked No. 13 by Baseball America and No. 21 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, opens its season with a three-game series at home versus Winthrop beginning Friday, Feb. 2. Game time is 6 p.m.
