Buffs Can't Catch Baylor and Fall 97-83

WACO, Texas (AP) -Henry Dugat and Aaron Bruce each scored 19 points to help lead Baylor to a 97-83 win over Colorado on Tuesday night.

Five Baylor players scored in double figures as the Bears (12-9, 2-6 Big 12) broke a four-game losing streak. Kevin Rogers contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds, Curtis Jerrells netted 17 and Tweety Carter had 11.

Colorado (5-13, 1-7) trailed by 23 points at halftime, but cut the deficit to 73-62 on Richard Roby's layup with 10 minutes remaining.

Baylor's Bruce and Tim Bush responded with 3-pointers in an 8-4 Baylor outburst that put the Bears in front 81-66, and Colorado never challenged again.

The Bears finished the game with a season-high 14 3-pointers in 25 attempts.

Xavier Silas led Colorado scoring with 23 points, while Jeremy Williams and Roby contributed 18 apiece as the Buffaloes lost their fourth straight contest.

Dugat's 16 first-half points and Jerrell's 11 paced the Bears to a 53-30 halftime lead.

Baylor started the game with a 20-5 run. After Colorado closed the gap to 27-17, the Bears went on a 16-0 run, extending their lead to 43-17 with just over six minutes left before halftime.
