This Week --
The Arizona State University gymnastics team travels to Corvallis, Ore., for its third consecutive Pacific-10 Conference meet against No. 16 Oregon State. The Sun Devils, under 27th-year head coach John Spini, return 12 gymnasts to the squad. After finishing ninth at last year's Championships and taking first in the North Central Regional, Spini and the Sun Devils look to compete in the NCAA Championships again this season. Spini is currently ASU's longest-tenured head coach, and is second on the all-time Sun Devil head coaching list. Former Sun Devil women's tennis coaching legend Anne Pittman holds the distinction as the longest-tenured ASU head coach at 31 seasons. Spini's regular-season record is now 316-119-2. His won-loss record at home is 168-28-1.

ASU In The Rankings --
The Arizona State women's gymnastics team was ranked 11th in the Preseason Coaches' Poll released by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches. The Sun Devils bounced back into the rankings after not being ranked the previous week. As a team, the Sun Devils are ranked No. 17. Holding a season average 48.587 on floor and 48.287 on beam, ASU sits at No. 21 nationally in both events. The Sun Devils are also No. 22 on bars and ranked18th on vault. Individually, senior Cassandra Jusino is ranked 14th in the all-around. Fellow senior April Boone is ranked ninth on floor and 13th on beam.

ASU Faces Nation's Finest --
The Sun Devils look to face seven of the top-ranked programs in the country, four of which are in the Pacific-10 Conference, according to the preseason coaches poll. The Sun Devils begin their season at No. 8 Stanford on Jan. 19 and last week hosted No. 5 UCLA. This week the Sun Devil travel to Corvallis to take on the No. 12 Oregon State Beavers on Feb. 2. The Sun Devils also compete against No. 10 Oklahoma (Feb. 9), No. 16 Arizona (Feb. 23), No. 15 Arkansas (March 16), and No. 2 Utah (March 23).

ASU Versus Oregon State --
ASU trails in the all-time series with Oregon State 41-21-1. The Sun Devils trail in regular season meets 10-19-1 and in post-season competition 11-22-1. ASU is 3-12 in Corvallis. Last season the Sun Devils were 2-1 against the Beavers. This is their third trip to Corvallis in the past year after they competed there for Pac-10 competition and in the NCAA Finals. Oregon State is currently ranked just above ASU at No. 16. Oregon State is also ranked 14th on floor, eighth on beam, and 19th on bars.

Returning All-American -
Sophomore Nicole Harris comes back to the Sun Devil squad as the lone returning All-American. Last season Harris capped her stellar season by gathering second team All-American status on beam after scoring a 9.875 at the NCAA Championships in Corvallis, Ore.

Aye Aye Captain! --
Team captain for the 2007 season, April Boone, has shown her consistent presence in the first two meets of the season. After winning the floor competition with a season-high 9.9 against UCLA, she is now ranked ninth nationally on floor. Along with her floor ranking, Boone is also ranked 13th on beam.

Sun Devils Have Second-Highest Crowd Ever Against UCLA --
The Sun Devils hosted the second-largest reular season crowd at Wells Fargo Arena last Friday January 26. The attendance of 1,834 is second only to January 26, 2001, when the Sun Devils hosted UCLA and 2,108 fans.

2007 Results --1/26: vs. UCLA -- The Sun Devils posted a season-high 195.275 in their loss against No. 6 UCLA. April Boone placed first on floor with a season-high 9.9 and placed second in the all-around (39.350). She also tied for second on vault (9.825) and beam (9.825). Lauren Powell took first on vault (9.85). Ashlee Hinkle tied with Boone for second on beam with a 9.825. Nicole Harris also tied for second on floor with a season-high 9.85 and tied with teammates Boone and Cassandra Jusino for second on vault (9.825). Jusino took third in the all-around (39.200).

1/19: at Stanford -- ASU scored a 193.075 in its season opening loss against the Cardinal. Lauren Powell placed third (39.050) in her first all-around competition since the 2005 season. April Boone posted a 9.850 on both beam and floor placing third in both those events. Cassandra Jusino scored a 9.850 on vault to tie for second place.
