Men's Golf Moves Up To Eighth At Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate

HILO, HAWAII - Washington men's golf carded a 7-under 273 in the second round of the Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate to move up to eighth place in the team standings at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course, Thursday.
Washington, which improved from shooting a 4-under 276 in the opening round on Wednesday, is tied for eighth with Texas Tech at 11-under 549 overall. The Huskies were led by the play of true freshman Joel Dahmen who shot a 3-under 67 in the second round, improving one shot from the previous day. Dahmen is tied for 13th in the individual standings.
All five Huskies shot even-par or better, including senior Alex Prugh who carded a 2-under 68 for the second-straight round. Prugh is tied for 24th along with teammate sophomore John Wise. Wise started the second round in a tie for third after shooting a career-best 4-under 66 but ended with an even-par 70 on Thursday to move back in the standings.
Junior Zach Bixler matched Dahmen for the best UW round of the day with a 3-under 67, but Bixler's score did not contribute to the team total as he is competing as an individual. Bixler is tied for 35th overall.
Oklahoma State leads the team race at 27-under 533 overall, Stanford (23-under 537) and Georgia Tech (23-under 537) are tied for second.
The Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate wraps up with the final 18 holes on Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m. Hawaii time.
